    For Kids Only Afterschool (FKO) is looking for a dynamic, school age educator and versatile manager to fill the District Director position in the Winthrop, Revere and Chelsea district. FKO is a nonprofit, out of school time program . With a mission to support the holistic needs of children, FKO fully believes learning extends well beyond the classroom, and afterschool educators are a key component to building lifelong learning skills.
    The District Director  currently oversees a team of five Site Directors who manage a daily staff of over 50 educators and 400 students each day. FKO’s year-round schedule includes afterschool, school vacation and summer programming for families.
    An ideal candidate will believe in the overall mission of FKO, serve as a leader in the Chelsea Public School and Winthrop Public School districts as well as a key collaborator with local community groups, school officials and teachers. A great candidate will possess strong managerial skills, coupled with the ability to coach, mentor and develop senior staff and group leaders. The District Director will also manage, under the direction of the Director of Operations and Administration colleagues, a sound budget with multiple funding sources, including EEC contracts and DESE 21st CCLC grant funding.
    This is a position which requires: an understanding of and the ability to effectively translate MA Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) licensing policies; the ability to think creatively to recruit and retain team members; an instinctive approach to utilizing given resources and developing relationships with key school district personnel; and the ability to work with diverse and at-risk populations. The District Director reports to the Director of Operations, is part of FKO’s Management Team and works in collaboration with administration to ensure successful program implementation.
    Duties of the District Director include, but are not limited to:
    -Oversee EEC state licensing and work with Site Directors and staff to ensure that all licensing requirements are met;
    -Establish developmentally appropriate curriculum goals to enhance the social, emotional, and intellectual well-being of children;
    -Deliver and support professional development for staff and provide ongoing guidance to support individual professional growth of employees;
    -Administer 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant program, including oversight of program design and implementation, staff recruitment and supervision, budget development and accountability, assessment and evaluation, data analysis and reporting;
    -Represent FKO at local and statewide forums, conferences, committees and meetings with funders, collaborators and school partners;
    -Work closely with FKO Director of Children and Family Services and Social Worker to monitor and report behavioral incident reports, Afterschool Support Plans and 51A’s;
    -Oversee data collection process, including student outcome assessments, program and staff observations and evaluations;
    -Maintain close collaboration with school principals, teachers and other school faculty;
    -In coordination with FKO’s Human Resource department, recruit and train Site Coordinators and OST Educators;
    -Assist Site Directors to support family engagement and address issues that arise within programs; and
    -All other duties as assigned.

    Qualified Candidates will possess an upbeat, mission focused, team-oriented attitude; possess the desire to work alongside colleagues, FKO administration and staff; and be reliable and accountable for his/her work. FKO is also seeking the following minimum requirements for the position:

    -Minimum of five years’ experience working with school age children and three years’ experience supervising staff;
    -Four-year college degree required, in related field preferred;
    -Experience working with diverse school age populations;
    -Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
    -Proven ability to provide leadership to school/afterschool collaborative projects;
    -Familiarity with EEC school age licensing;
    -Ability to travel daily throughout the communities of Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop to multiple school sites and occasionally to meetings/workshops/trainings throughout the state of Massachusetts; and
    -Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend events.
